Embroidered patches have been around for many years, but if you don’t want to use those (maybe because you are afraid some of the threads may fray), you can choose dyed ones (fabric with satin-stitched edge) made with the permanent dye that is used in polyester clothing. These are machine washable and dryable, dry cleanable, durable, scrubbable, and can even be worn in the rain! These are available with an iron-on backing.
